Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing left, seen from the front, with the emperor's left arm raised and the hand extended forward; the shield carried on his left arm bears a depiction of Nike in relief. The imperial effigy is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Edessan coinage under the Severan dynasty. The obverse legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his full titulature.
