| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, with her characteristic elaborate wavy coiffure arranged in ridged waves and gathered at the nape, rendered in the distinctive Severan court style. The empress is depicted with diadem and draped paludamentum visible at the truncation. The Greek legend ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ϹΕΒΑϹ runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying her as Julia Augusta. The portrait is boldly struck with strong relief, typical of provincial bronze coinage from the Phrygian conventus. |
