| Obverse description | Confronted busts of Caracalla and Geta facing one another: Caracalla at right, laureate, draped, and cuirassed, and Geta at left, bare-headed and draped. The obverse legend identifying both princes runs around the field, designating Caracalla as Antoninus Severus and Geta as Septimius Geta Caesar. The opposing portrait arrangement is a distinctive compositional device employed on provincial bronze coinage of the Severan dynasty to emphasize dynastic continuity and joint rule. |
