Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, viewed from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The portrait exhibits the characteristic youthful features of Caracalla in the early Severan period. The obverse legend runs around the bust in Greek characters, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The die work is typical of the provincial mint at Petra, with a bold and slightly irregular strike.
