| Reverse description | The river god Gallos, the eponymous deity of the local river, is depicted seated to the left in a relaxed, reclining posture. He holds a cornucopia in one arm and a reed in the other hand, symbolising the river's fertility and abundance, while resting his elbow upon an overturned water urn from which water flows. The figure is rendered in the conventional Hellenistic tradition for river personifications. The reverse legend encircles the type, naming both the city of Philomelium and the local magistrate Marcus. |
