| Reverse description | Standing figure, likely a deity, depicted in full length facing slightly left or frontal, rendered in the conventions of provincial Phrygian civic coinage. The figure appears to hold attributes in each hand, possibly a patera or sceptre, consistent with standard reverse types of Cotiaeum. The surrounding Greek legend names the local magistrate Aurelius Menandros and his patronymic reference to Diogenes, together with his title of archon and the ethnic of the Cotiaeans. The design occupies the full flan with the legend distributed around the periphery. The overall execution is typical of mid-third-century provincial bronze coinage from the Conventus of Synnada. |
