| Obverse description | Youthful, laureate and draped bust of the Demos personification facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Carian civic coinage. The legend ΔΗΜΟϹ ΑΦΡΟΔΕΙϹΙ is disposed around the periphery, identifying the civic entity of Aphrodisias. The portrait displays curling hair beneath the laurel wreath and a draped right shoulder, conveying the idealized, quasi-divine character conventionally accorded to the Demos in civic iconography. |
