Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, distinguished by a full, long beard rendered in fine curling strands characteristic of Antonine portraiture. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic curly hair and philosophical countenance, with the neck and upper shoulder visible. The encircling Greek legend runs along the dotted border of the coin, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of provincial bronze coinage of the period.

Reverse description Dionysus, the god of wine, is depicted seated to the left upon an ornate throne, his body shown in a relaxed, semi-draped posture. He extends one arm downward to feed or interact with a panther crouching before him at lower left, a traditional attribute of the deity. His opposite arm rests upon the back of the throne. The composition reflects the Hellenistic artistic tradition prevalent in Mysian civic coinage. The encircling legend, which includes a retrograde (reversed) zeta in ΝΕΟΚΟΡΩΝ, proclaims the neocorate status of the city of Cyzicus, running around the dotted border of the field.
