| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of the Demos, youthful in appearance, facing right, set within a dotted border. The effigy presents the personification of the civic people (Demos) of Aphrodisias with idealized, youthful features and a wreath of laurel leaves rendered in fine relief. The legend ΔΗΜΟϹ appears in the right field, identifying the personification. The overall style is characteristic of Provincial bronze coinage of Caria during the Antonine period. |
