| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, portrayed from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The effigy displays the characteristic mature portrait of Hadrian with a short beard. A Greek imperial legend encircles the bust, divided across the upper field reading ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙϹ ΤΡΑΙΑΝ to the left and ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ to the right, identifying the emperor as Autocrator Caesar Trajan Hadrian Augustus. The die work is consistent with the Alexandrian mint style of the Trajanic-Hadrianic period, with broad flan fabric typical of Egyptian provincial coinage. |
