| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, presented in three-quarter view from the front. The imperial effigy displays the characteristic youthful features of Gordian III, with a radiate laurel wreath crown visible above the brow. The paludamentum is fastened at the shoulder, and the cuirass is rendered with visible pteryges at the lower edge. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΝ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ, distributed around the periphery of the field. |
