| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, portrayed three-quarter from the rear, with the radiate crown rendered in pronounced relief above the imperial effigy. The paludamentum is visible at the shoulder, and the cuirass displays characteristic military detail typical of provincial bronze coinage of the period. The Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, partially visible on this irregularly shaped specimen. The style is consistent with the civic mint output of Nicaea in Bithynia during the reign of Gordian III. |
