| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, conveying a martial character consistent with early third-century provincial portraiture. The radiate crown is clearly articulated, with individual spikes visible above the emperor's head. The paludamentum is fastened at the shoulder, with the cuirass visible beneath. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP C M ANT GORDIANVS, distributed around the periphery of the flan. |
