Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, depicted from behind in the three-quarter rear view characteristic of some Severan-era provincial issues. The emperor's laureate wreath, paludamentum, and cuirass are rendered in low relief, with the Greek imperial titulature disposed around the periphery of the flan as a circular legend.

Reverse description Tyche, the personification of the city's fortune, stands facing with head turned to the left, rendered in the conventional Hellenistic tradition of civic deity types. In her right hand she holds a ship's rudder, symbolising guidance and prosperity, while her left arm cradles a cornucopia overflowing with fruits, emblematic of abundance. The ethnic legend ΜΑΓΝΗΤΩΝ is disposed in the field around the figure, identifying the issuing city of Magnesia ad Maeandrum.
