| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Lydian civic coinage of the early third century AD. The portrait displays the youthful features of the emperor with hair indicated by radiating lines beneath the laurel wreath. The circular Greek legend ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ Μ Α ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ surrounds the bust, reading from left and continuing around the field. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with a dark olive-green patina, and the border is formed by a row of dots. |
