Reverse description An eagle stands facing right atop a thunderbolt, its wings partially spread in the characteristic pose associated with Alexandrian provincial coinage of the imperial period. The bird's plumage and talons are rendered with typical Alexandrian provincial workmanship. The Greek dating legend, indicating the regnal year seven of Domitian's reign in Egypt, is distributed around the eagle in the field. This eagle-on-thunderbolt type is a recurring and emblematic reverse design for Alexandrian bronze issues of the Flavian dynasty.
