Obverse description Draped bust of Livia facing right, her hair elaborately arranged in waves drawn back from the forehead and gathered at the nape, rendered in the classicizing Julio-Claudian portrait style characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The effigy fills the flan with no visible legend, consistent with the anonymous portraiture of the empress on Egyptian issues of the Augustan period.

Reverse description A modius overflowing with grain ears occupies the centre of the field, flanked on either side by a tall lit torch; the composition is a fertility emblem closely associated with Demeter-Isis, underscoring the agricultural symbolism prevalent on Alexandrian bronzes. The date formula L ΛΘ (regnal year 39 of Augustus) appears in the lower exergual area beneath the modius.
