Obverse description Bare laureate bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, with draped shoulder, the effigy rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Pontic civic coinage. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays the emperor's characteristic full beard and wreath of laurel, consistent with his numismatic iconography from the later part of his reign.

Reverse description The serpent deity Glykon depicted in sinuous coils, its body rising and curling upon itself within the field, facing left, rendered with a human-featured head atop a serpentine form — the divine snake cult figure promoted by the oracle Alexander of Abonoteichus. The ethnic legend of the city encircles the design along the periphery, enclosed within a beaded border. The bold, deeply struck image of Glykon occupies virtually the entire reverse field, a design uniquely associated with this Pontic city and its celebrated oracular cult.
