| Reverse description | Ithyphallic cult statue of the bearded deity Priapus standing left upon a rectangular plinth or base, depicted in the characteristic archaic xoanon style. The figure holds a cantharus extended over a lighted altar to his left, and grasps a long thyrsus adorned with fillets in his other hand, emblematic of his role as tutelary deity of Lampsacus. The reverse legend ΛΑΝΨΑΚΗΝ ΕΠΙ ϹΤΡ ϹΟ-Ϲ-ϹΙΟΥ surrounds the type, naming the city of the Lampsacenes and the presiding strategos Sossios. |
