| Reverse description | Asclepius, the god of medicine, stands facing with his head turned to the left. He holds his characteristic serpent-entwined staff (the caduceus of Asclepius) upright in his right hand, with his weight supported by it in a relaxed contrapposto stance. The figure is rendered in the standard Hellenistic divine type common to Greek Imperial bronzes of Asia Minor. The encircling ethnic legend ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟΠΟΛΙΤΩΝ ('of the Traianopolitans') appears around the reverse field. |
