| Obverse lettering | ΑΥΤ ΤΡΑΙΑΝ ϹΕΒ ΓΕΡΜ ΔΑΚΙΚ (Translation: Emperor Trajan Augustus Germanicus Dacicus) |
| Reverse description | The Agathodaemon serpent, the tutelary deity of Alexandria, depicted erect and rearing to the right, crowned with the double Egyptian crown (skhent), its coils entwining a caduceus and a stalk of grain (corn). This reverse type reflects the deep syncretism of Greco-Egyptian religious iconography characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage, combining Hellenistic and pharaonic symbolism. The regnal year date appears in the field. The type is well established for the fourteenth regnal year of Trajan in the Alexandrian series. |
