| Obverse description | Laureate head of the Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Cilician civic bronzes of the early 2nd century AD. The laurel wreath is rendered with multiple leaves radiating around the crown, and the portrait displays the characteristic strong jaw and slightly idealised features associated with Trajanic imperial iconography. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show a dark olive-green patina consistent with prolonged burial. |

| Reverse description | Draped and veiled bust of Demeter facing right, the veil rendered in flowing folds over her head and shoulders in the manner typical of Hellenistic divine portraiture. Before her, in the field to her right, stands a tall torch, the principal cult attribute of the goddess and a hallmark of her sanctuary at Hieropolis-Castabala. The Greek civic ethnic legend ΙΕΡΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΑΝ ('of the Hierapolitans') is placed in the field, identifying the issuing authority. The overall composition reflects the strong local religious tradition associated with the goddess at this important Cilician cult centre. |
