Reverse description Standing figure of Demeter depicted facing left in full length, attired in chiton and himation, extending her right hand to hold ears of grain and grasping a tall torch in her left hand. The goddess is rendered in a serene, classical contrapposto stance typical of Bithynian civic reverse types. The encircling Greek legend references Nicomedia's twice-awarded neocorate status, a mark of civic distinction and imperial favour, with the numeral Γ (3) appearing in the field. The surface is heavily patinated with areas of green and brown encrustation consistent with prolonged burial.
