| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing left, depicted frontally with decorated shield and spear. The emperor's effigy is rendered in the provincial style typical of Mesopotamian civic coinage of the Severan period. The obverse legend encircles the bust in Greek characters, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The shield decoration and military accoutrements reflect the martial iconography favored in eastern provincial issues of this reign. |
