| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, viewed from behind, with the radiate crown prominently rendered and paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The effigy displays a robust, three-quarter rear perspective characteristic of mid-3rd century provincial Roman coinage. The surrounding Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is rendered in the bold, somewhat stylized manner typical of Moesian colonial mint production. |
