Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Gaius Julius Verus Maximus Caesar facing right, rendered in three-quarter rear view, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The portrait displays the youthful features characteristic of Maximus as Caesar under his father Maximinus Thrax. The encircling Greek legend identifies the subject by his full titulature in the nominative case. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show heavy patination consistent with a provincial bronze issue of the Severan period.
