| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximus (Caesar, son of Maximinus Thrax) facing right, depicted from the rear. The effigy displays the characteristic youthful features of the prince, with drapery and armour rendered in provincial style. A partially legible Latin legend encircles the bust in the field. The flan is irregular and the surface shows heavy patination consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD. |
