| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate, and draped bust of Lucius Verus facing right, rendered in the provincial Lydian style with curled hair and short beard typical of his portraiture. The legend surrounds the effigy in Greek characters, reading from left to right around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is competently executed in low relief, consistent with the civic coinage of the Conventus of Sardis during the joint reign of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus. |
