Reverse description The river god Harpasos, personification of the local river, depicted as a semi-recumbent male figure reclining to the left. In his extended right hand he holds a reed, an attribute emblematic of riverine deities, while his left arm rests upon an overturned vase from which water flows, symbolising the river's source. The ethnic legend of the issuing city appears in the field, identifying the community of Harpasa. The composition follows the standard Hellenistic-Roman iconographic convention for potamoi on provincial coinage.
