| Reverse description | Turreted, draped, and cuirassed bust of Tyche, the personification and tutelary deity of Alexandria Troas, facing right and bearing a military vexillum over her shoulder. The mural crown (turreted headdress) identifies her civic role as protectress of the colony, while the cuirass underscores the military character of the Roman colonial foundation. The vexillum standard, rendered in the field, carries the abbreviated colonial legend AV/CO or, on certain specimens, AV/AL. The surrounding peripheral legend reads TROA(S) in Latin capitals, referencing the issuing city. |
