| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gallienus facing right, depicted from a rear three-quarter perspective, presenting the armoured back of the cuirass with drapery visible at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend identifies the emperor by his full titulature. The portrait typology is characteristic of the provincial coinage struck at Smyrna during Gallienus's sole reign (260–268 AD). |
