| Reverse description | Heracles depicted standing facing left in the central field, nude, resting his weight in a contrapposto stance. He holds a club downward in his right hand and drapes the Nemean lion skin over his extended left arm. The ethnic legend ΑΤΤΟΥΔΕΩΝ is inscribed around the periphery, identifying the issuing city of Attuda in Caria. The reverse type reflects the city's affinity with Heracles as a divine patron, a common iconographic choice in Carian provincial coinage of the Gallienic period. |
