| Reverse description | Athena standing left, helmeted and draped, holding an upright spear in her right hand and resting her left hand upon a round shield set on the ground beside her. The goddess is depicted in a classical contrapposto stance characteristic of Hellenistic civic iconography. The Greek legend of the local dynast Marcus Antonius Polemo is disposed around the field, partially flanking the central figure. The reverse field shows considerable flatness of strike consistent with the irregular hammered flan. |
