Reverse description Sarapis enthroned to the left, depicted in his characteristic frontal iconography with a modius (kalathos) on his head, holding a long sceptre in his left hand and extending his right hand forward over Cerberus, the three-headed guardian of the underworld, who sits attentively at his feet to the left. The composition follows standard Hellenistic-Roman religious imagery associated with the Sarapic cult. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ encircles the design, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea.
