| Reverse description | Standing frontal figure of Artemis Laphria, depicted wearing a short chiton and chlamys, holding a bow in her raised left hand positioned above a low altar. To the left of the goddess, a hound is shown looking upward toward her in a gesture of devotion, a characteristic iconographic detail associated with the cult of Artemis Laphria at Patras. The reverse legend identifies the deity in her Augustan cultic aspect. |

| Additional information |
Patras held the unusual distinction of being a Roman colony planted directly on Greek soil — Colonia Aroe Augusta Patrensis, refounded by Augustus — which granted it the right to strike colonial bronze long after most Achaean cities had lost that privilege. The cult of Artemis Laphria, imported wholesale from Calydon, was central to Patraean civic identity; Pausanias describes her annual festival as involving a bonfire into which live animals were driven.
The reference II#228 places this within the colonial series catalogued by Amandry.
