Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Commodus facing right, with a short to medium-length beard and traces of drapery at the shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the typical provincial style of the period, with the laureate wreath indicated by a series of raised beads or leaves around the head. The obverse legend encircles the effigy, reading IMP CAI M AVR COMMODVS, the misspelling of CAES as CAI being a notable feature of this issue.
