| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the provincial hammered style typical of Judaea under Roman rule. The emperor's effigy displays the characteristic layered drapery of the military cloak over the cuirass, with the laurel wreath clearly articulated around the head. A partial Greek legend runs along the right field, partially off-flan, reading ] ΚΟΜΜΟΔΟϹ, identifying the emperor. The portrait exhibits the bold, somewhat schematic modelling characteristic of eastern provincial bronze coinage of the Antonine period. |

| Reverse description | Hygieia, goddess of health, seated to the right upon a rocky outcrop, rendered in flowing drapery. She extends her right hand forward, offering a patera from which a large serpent, coiling upward before her, feeds. Beneath the rock, wavy lines indicate water, an allusion to the celebrated thermal springs of Tiberias, with which Hygieia was locally associated. The surrounding Greek civic legend reads ΤΙΒ ΚΛ ϹΥΡ ΠΑ ΕΤ ΡΟ, referencing the city name Tiberias and municipal dating formula. The composition reflects the city's pride in its curative hot springs and the Hellenic artistic tradition of provincial Roman coinage. |
