Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, rendered as seen from behind the shoulder, conveying a three-quarter rear perspective characteristic of certain provincial issues. The imperial effigy displays the characteristic short beard and military cuirass of Caracalla's portraiture. The surrounding Latin legend reads ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, disposed along the coin's periphery. The execution is consistent with the provincial workshop tradition of Alexandria Troas, with bold if somewhat coarse die-cutting.
