Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, seen from the rear, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The effigy displays the characteristic broad-faced portrait of the emperor in his mature military guise. The legend M AVRE ANTONINVS runs around the periphery in Latin capitals. The flan is irregular and the die work reflects the provincial civic mint tradition of the Troad.
