| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, rendered in the typical provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The portrait shows the emperor with characteristic beard and naturalistic facial features. The circumferential Greek legend reads around the bust, abbreviated to give the emperor's full titulature. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with the die slightly off-centre, as is common for Alexandrian bronze issues of this period. |
