Obverse description Laureate head of the emperor Vespasian facing right, rendered in the local provincial style typical of the Lydian mint at Mastaura. The portrait displays the characteristic mature, sturdy features of Vespasian, with a laurel wreath encircling the head. The Greek legend ΟΥΕΣΠΑΣΙΑΝΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor as Caesar.
