Reverse description Tyche of the city of Edessa seated left upon a rocky outcrop, her right hand extending to hold ears of corn, symbolising the city's fertility and prosperity. At her feet stands a small lighted altar, while below in the exergue a river god swims leftward, personifying the Daisan (Skirtos) river flowing through Edessa. The reverse legend encircles the scene in Greek, identifying the issuing civic authority. The composition follows established Mesopotamian provincial iconographic conventions for civic Tyche types.
