| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip II Caesar facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic provincial style. The effigy displays the youthful features of the young Caesar, with paludamentum visible over the cuirass. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, reading Μ ΙΟΥ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ. The flan is slightly irregular, typical of provincial bronze coinage struck at Ephesus during the mid-third century AD. |
