Reverse description Draped bust of Sarapis facing right, the Egyptian deity identified by the distinctive kalathos (modius) atop his head, rendered in the syncretic Graeco-Egyptian tradition common in Bithynian provincial coinage. The bust shows drapery over the left shoulder. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is inscribed in the field or along the periphery, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea. The reverse die is slightly worn, with moderate detail surviving on the kalathos and facial features.
