| Reverse description | Dionysus standing in contrapposto, facing left, clad in a flowing robe draped over the lower body. In his extended right hand he holds a patera pouring a libation toward a panther crouching at his feet to the lower left, while his left hand grasps a long thyrsus held diagonally. The composition is typical of Dionysiac iconography on Mysian provincial bronzes. The encircling Greek ethnic legend ΑΠοΛΛΩΝΙΑΤΩΝ identifies the issuing city of Apollonia ad Rhyndacum. |
