| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, draped in cuirass and paludamentum, depicted with a medium-to-long beard with short curls, characteristic of his mature portraiture. The effigy is rendered in three-quarter view from the front, with the head turned to the right. The abbreviated Greek legend ΑΥ Κ Μ ΑΥ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙ runs in the field around the portrait, identifying the emperor by his imperial titles. The style is typical of provincial bronze coinage struck under the Conventus of Adramyteum during the early co-reign period. |
