Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Antinous facing right, with his characteristic thick, wavy locks rendered in high relief, the hair swept back from the forehead in the distinctive youthful style associated with his portraiture. The neck and truncation are visible at the lower field. The circular legend ΗΡΩϹ ΑΝΤΙΝΟΟϹ surrounds the effigy, identifying him as the heroized favorite of Hadrian.
