Reverse description The river god Rhyndakos depicted reclining to the left, his body semi-recumbent in the classical manner of personified waterways. He holds an indeterminate object in his raised right hand, while his left arm rests upon an overturned vase or urn from which water flows, the conventional attribute symbolising the source of a river. The encircling ethnic legend identifies the issuing city. The composition follows standard Hellenistic iconographic conventions for river deity representations.
