| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted in three-quarter view from the front, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the conventional provincial style of the mid-third century AD. A circular Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. |

| Reverse description | A large crescent with horns pointing upward occupies the central field, with a star or pellet placed within its arc, forming a prominent civic emblem associated with Magnesia ad Maeandrum. This crescent-and-star motif served as the principal symbol of the city on its coinage. The ethnic legend of the issuing city is disposed around the field, the letters separated by stops in the characteristic Magnesian fashion. |
