Reverse description A large crescent with horns pointing upward occupies the central field, with a star or pellet placed within its arc, forming a prominent civic emblem associated with Magnesia ad Maeandrum. This crescent-and-star motif served as the principal symbol of the city on its coinage. The ethnic legend of the issuing city is disposed around the field, the letters separated by stops in the characteristic Magnesian fashion.
