Reverse description Two nude children (Erotes or putti) are depicted in animated poses, crouching and playing with astragali (knucklebones) in the field. Centrally placed between the figures stands the cult statue of Artemis Ephesia in her characteristic frontal, xoanon-like form with multiple rows of ovaloid ornaments on her chest and lateral supports. A crescent moon and a star appear in the upper field flanking the idol, symbolising the goddess's celestial associations. The reverse legend proclaiming the city's triple neocorate status encircles the composition, and the whole is contained within a beaded border.
